Opened in 1971. Halterworth is just on the outskirts of the market town of Romsey; about six miles from Southampton and within easy reach of the New Forest and the coast. We have beautiful grounds with extensive playing fields and a much loved woodland walk. We have two large playgrounds, each with their own adventure play equipment and creative playground markings.
We admit 60 pupils each year into Reception and a further 4 pupils from Year 3 onwards. Organised into two classes per year group, each Class Teacher is supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, specialist and trainee teachers.
The school is well resourced with an extensive library, our very own Halterworth Primary School Radio Station (HPS Radio), wireless IT capability with laptops, tablets and a range of IT tools and gadgets. We also have facilities for film studies, green screen technology and ‘stop frame’ animation. Each class room has the latest EasyTouch LED display boards and networked computers. Our refurbished IT suite has 32 networked computers all of which are available via home log in for our staff and pupils.
There is a strong commitment for excellence in the arts and sport. We ensure that children have opportunities to create and perform for an audience. We encourage participation in a wide range of sporting activities and enthusiastically compete in local and county competitions. The children have the opportunity to join the Orchestra, held at Mountbatten School, which is led by Stuart Marchant, a renowned music teacher and band leader at Mountbatten School.
We value the external and internal environment of the school and high quality displays of children’s work are evident in every classroom and shared areas. This shows the value we place on our children’s efforts and achievements.
How we care for your child
