SMSC & British Values
Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Education (SMSC)
We work hard in all aspects of school life to help teach our children to be wonderful future citizens who have a strong awareness of themselves and their place in the world. This is a lifelong pursuit and something that we weave in to all our curriculum subjects and everyday life at Halterworth. To find out a little bit more about this area of work on the SMSC blog click here.
Promoting Fundamental British Values
In accordance with the Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
The Key Values are:
- rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
- tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
In addition, to understand how every curriculum subject contributes to the development of spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding, as well as the Fundamental British Values, please see the attached document below.
