As you would expect, we continue to carefully monitor the situation and to follow the advice issued by Public Health England and the Department for Education with regard to the Covid-19 outbreak. In summary, their recommendation is that schools should continue to remain open. They have also issued specific advice for any travellers returning from named regions in China, Korea and Italy (Category 1) for which special restrictions apply and you must self-isolate even if you are well and these are listed at this link.
There are other areas (Category 2) where travellers are only expected to self-isolate and contact the NHS if they have specific symptoms. We would ask that all parents make themselves fully aware of the official guidance that exists, there is a considerable amount of media and social media coverage which can lead to increased anxiety and confusion. As a school we receive daily updates from the DfE and should official guidance change that require us to make adaptations to the operation of the school we will make contact with you via email, text and the school website as normal.
Most importantly, we have initiated regular opportunities for hand washing with the children throughout the day and have asked our cleaning teams to increase hygiene routines as part of their daily schedule.
